Computer Science (Honours BSc)

From applied cryptography to mobile computing, Computer Science will help you develop strong algorithm analysis and design skills in procedural, object-oriented and low-level languages. Our Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science program provides the hands-on experience that is key to understanding computing fundamentals with an optional introduction to functional, parallel and logical paradigms.

Computer Science and Psychology

Gain insights into the human brain and human behaviour by studying the biological aspects of psychology. Study significant sub-fields of psychology and take complementary science courses in the natural and life sciences. In your upper years, you can participate in hands-on research with innovative faculty. This program is combined with Computer Science.

Data Science (Honours BSc)

Financial Mathematics and Analytics (Honours BA)

Laurier’s Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Financial Mathematics program is structured to teach you mathematics and its financial applications with a focus on how mathematics is connected with social science and business.

The program’s modern approach involves simultaneously analyzing financial risks, evaluating prices of complex securities, valuing investments and combined assets, and liability management.

The Mathematics (BA) program provides training in mathematics to analyze complex problems in organizations and enterprises through a focus on the mathematics and statistics used in the social sciences, humanities and business.

Science Program Structure

During the International Year One (UTP Stage II): Science program you will study courses that introduce you to a wide range of disciplines. Below is a sample of the courses that you might take during the program:

  • Introduction to Programming
  • Data Structures I
  • Introduction to Academic Writing

Science Progression Requirements

You will transfer into the Honours Bachelor of Computer Science program in the Faculty of Science at Wilfrid Laurier University with 5.0 credits (10 courses) toward your degree upon successful completion of the International Year One (UTP Stage II): Faculty of Science (Honours BSc) program if you meet the following requirements:

Computer Science (Honours BSc)
  • A minimum GPA of 5.00 (C) in CP104 and CP164 and a minimum overall GPA of 4.00 (C-).
  • Completion of a minimum of 10 courses (5.0 credits) in the WLIC International Year One program, including the required courses CP104, CP164, MA103, EN190.

Computer Science and Psychology (Honours BSc)

  • Minimum GPA of 5.00 (C) in CP104 and CP164, a minimum GPA of 5.00 (C) in PS101 and PS102, and a minimum overall GPA of 4.00 (C-). 
  • Completion of a minimum of 10 courses (5.0 credits), including the required courses:  CP104, CP164, MA103, PS101, PS102, and EN190. 
Data Science (Honours BSc)
  • A minimum GPA of 5.00 (C) in CP104 and CP164 and an overall GPA of 4.00 (C-)
  • Completion of a minimum of 10 courses (5.0 credits) in the WLIC International Year One program, including the required courses BU111, CP104, CP164, MA103, EN190, or a writing course equivalent.
Financial Mathematics and Analytics (Honours BSc)
  • A minimum overall GPA of 4.00 (C-).
  • Completion of a minimum of 10 courses (5.0 credits) in the WLIC International Year One program, including the required courses MA103, EC120, EC140, 1.0 credit from (both BI110 and BI111) or (both CH110 and CH111) or (both CP104 and CP164), EN190 or a writing course equivalentEN190.
Mathematics (Honours BSc)
  • A minimum overall GPA of 4.00 (C-).
  • Completion of a minimum of 10 courses (5.0 credits) in the WLIC International Year One program, including the required courses MA103, EN190 or a qriting course equivalent, 1.0 credit from (both BI110 and BI111) or (both CH110 and CH111) or (both CP104 and CP164).

Mathematics and Data Analytics (Honours BSc)

  • For transfer the requirement will be a successful completion of MA103, and an overall GPA of 4.00.
  • Completion of a minimum of 10 courses (5.0 credits) in the WLIC International Year One program, including the required courses MA103, 1.0 credit from (both BI110 and BI111) or (both CH110 and CH111) or (both CP104 and CP164), and EN190 or a writing course equivalent.

You will transfer into the Honours Bachelor of Arts program in the Faculty of Science at Wilfrid Laurier University with 5.0 credits (10 courses) toward your degree upon successful completion of the UTP Stage II: Faculty of Science (Honours BA) program if you meet the following requirements:

Mathematics (Honours BA)
  • A minimum overall GPA of 4.00 (C-).
  • Completion of a minimum of 10 courses (5.0 credits) in the WLIC UTP program, including the required courses MA103, EN190 or a writing course equivalent.

Financial Mathematics and Analytics (Honours BA)

  • For transfer the requirement will be a successful completion of MA103, and an overall GPA of 4.00 (C-).
  • Completion of a minimum of 10 courses (5.0 credits) in the WLIC International Year One program, including the required courses MA103, EC120, EC140, EN190 or a writing course equivalent.
